Vieira Luan is a Gremio prodigy who was dubbed the new Neymar in Brazil following a string of impressive displays for his club. This is probably a bit to much praise for Luan, who while extremely talented, isn’t the level of a 19 year old Neymar, who has now arguably gone on to be one of the top 3 forwards in world football.
There were strong rumours that Real Madrid were interested in Vieira Luan’s signature as they were looking for an alternative having missed out to Barcelona for another brazilian prodigy, Neymar. These rumours failed to materialise but there did appear to be more concrete interest from Liverpool football club with Jurgen Klopp seeing him fitting into his high intensity, high press style.
His club form and regular appearances saw him get a rating increase of +3 to 85 in August 2015 and he has since gone on hit 87 in June 2016. Since then he made the Brazilian Olympic Squad for the Rio Olympics and although he didn’t start the tournament as a starter, where he was behind Neymar (Barcelona), Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa (Inter Milan) and Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) his excellent form from the bench meant he ended up in the team towards the latter stages of the tournament. This included a spectacular goal against Colombia and another 2 goals in the tournament. Luan started the final and played the entire 120 minutes as Brazil beat Germany on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
His form for Brazil will surely lead to another rating increase in the near future.
