Julian Weigl has burst onto the scene in a Dortmund side not afraid to give young talent a chance. His passing is extremely impressive, very rarely loosing possession of the ball. His reading of the game for such a young player is also what sets him apart. His style of play resembles that of establish stars like Barcelona star Sergio Busquets and Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos.
In fact, Real Madrid are rumoured to be very interested in acquiring his services in the future. However Dortmund see Weigl as a key part of their team for the future, so much so that they seem willing to let midfield star Ilkay Gundogen leave as they know they have a more than capable replacement for him in Weigl.
His rating has just risen to 88 and he has a chance of making the Germany squad for the upcoming European Championships in France this summer. Over the next 12 months he seems a certainty to rise to 89 and expect him to hit 90 or possibly even 91 by the end of the 2016/17 season. After that he can continue to rise and has the potential to reach the levels of both Kroos and Busqeuts.
