Joao Carlos Teixeira is an atacking midfielder who was a youngster on Liverpool’s books after being signed from the Sporting Lisbon academy in 2012. He is a silky midfielder with good technique and passing ability.
He spent a short loan spell at Brentford and then had successful loan spell with Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion in 2014/15 which led to him being in the Liverpool first team squad for the 2015/16 season. However he was unable to gain much first team opportunities for Liverpool, making just the 2 appearances throughout the season.
In search of first team football, he has moved to FC Porto in his native Portugal which are one of the best clubs known for getting the best out of players, particularly technical players. Atletico playmaker Oliver Torres had a great season at Porto in 2014/15 before returning to Atleti the following season.
The slight frame of Joao Carlos and lack of physicality means he should be far more suited to the technical Portuguese Primeira Liga compared to the more physical Premier League.
João CARLOS has been stuck at 82 rated since the summer of 2015, as he has been unable to gain any regular first team football. If he can break into the Porto side this season, it will give him a chance to increase his rating with Porto one of Portugal’s biggest clubs and also in the Champions League.
